Job Description: DescriptionPlease visit the City of Anna’s website at www.annatexas.gov to complete an employment application.Job DescriptionProvides assistance to ensure the efficient operation, maintenance and repair of the water and wastewater system.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or GED equivalent.
- One year previous experience and/or training involving the plumbing trade, construction trade, or water/wastewater line repair or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Possesses valid Texas Class “C” license when hired.
- Ability to obtain a Class D Wastewater Treatment or Collections I License issued by TCEQ within 6 months of hire date.
- Ability to obtain Class D Water Distribution License issued by the TCEQ within 6 months of hire date.
Job Responsibilities
- Check and maintain equipment to ensure proper function.
- Assist in the installation of water service taps.
- Assist in the installation, service and upgrade water and wastewater mains and lines.
- Ensure the safe operating conditions of the work site, i.e., traffic hazards, equipment operation, required barricades, road and site areas.
- Log completed daily maintenance.
- Locate breaks and/or leaks in utility lines for repair.
- Serve as call out crew as needed.
- Operate equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, backhoes, front-end loaders, jet trucks and dump trucks in the performance of tasks.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Assist Utility Billing, Wastewater and/or Streets Divisions when needed.
- Complete service orders.
- Attends training as necessary.
- Assists in the maintenance and inspection of department equipment and vehicles.
- Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.

Includes judging whether readily observable functional, structural or compositional characteristics are similar to or divergent from prescribed standards, procedures or routines.3. – Ability to exchange information for the purpose of obtaining information or clarifying details. Performs such within well-established policies, procedures and standards.4. – Ability to operate, maneuver and/or control the actions of equipment, machinery, tools, and/or materials used in performing essential functions.5. – Ability to utilize a wide variety of reference data and information, such as water and sewer maps, work orders, and City Employee Handbook.6. – Ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.7. – Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form. Involves semi-routine standardized work with some latitude for independent judgment concerning choices of action.8. – Ability to exercise the judgment required in situations characterized by repetitive or short cycle operations covered by set procedures or sequences.9. – Ability to perform coordinated movements involving placing and turning motions, such as operating a backhoe, front-end loader, ½ or ¾ ton truck, dump truck, water pump, probe rod, and various tools.10. – Ability to respond to emergency situations outside of normal business hours.Physical RequirementsWORKING CONDITIONSOutside or inside working environment, wherein there are potential hazardous working conditions and life-threatening situations exist (fire, chemicals, electrical sources, heights, dangerous people, etc.) all the time per job duties and responsibilities.ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONSThe following work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing essential functions of this job.
