Title of the Job: Summer Academic Dean

Location: Seattle, WA

Job Description: Lakeside School, an independent coeducational day school located in North Seattle, is currently recruiting for a Summer Academic Dean for the our Summer School Program for summer 2025. The Summer Academic Dean works on campus June 16 – Aug.4, with a few planning meetings via Zoom throughout the springResponsibilities
This position reports to the Director of Summer at Lakeside and is responsible for planning and overseeing the six-week Summer School program.

  • Assist the Director of Summer at Lakeside planning and running Summer School employee orientation and student orientation
  • Collaborate and communicate eectively with summer administrative team (Summer Operations Manager, oce assistants, Summer Librarian)
  • Observe and evaluate Summer School teachers; provide written feedback to teachers after observing classes
  • Regularly meet with and provide mentorship to all new Summer School teachers
  • Meet with Lakeside Student Support team to gather information as needed before summer classes start to support student success; distribute support plans to relevant teachers
  • Create, collect, and analyze student midpoint and end-of-summer surveys
  • Plan and run community gathering activities
  • Organize Friday morning faculty breakfast gatherings
  • Provide curricular support for teachers
  • Support teachers planning eld trips by planning logistics and transportation; collect forms for eld trips
  • Check attendance daily; follow up with families, students, and teachers when students miss class.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians on questions and concerns about student attendance and behavior
  • Document student behavior and academic concerns
  • At the beginning of the school year, meet with a member of the Student Support Team and/or Assistant Upper School Director to brief them and provide them with documentation of all student behavior and academic concerns that arose during the summer
  • Work with Director of Summer at Lakeside to strategize ways to improve the program and experience for teachers and students
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Summer at Lakeside

Requirements & Qualifications:
Successful candidates must have

  • Demonstrated cultural awareness, including knowledge of themselves and the cultural lenses they bring to interactions. The candidate will understand dierent perspectives; interact respectfully with cultures other than their own; and cultivate meaningful relationships with people that have dierent cultural frameworks.
  • At least a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree preferred.
  • Several years of experience working with middle school or high school students.
  • Leadership experience with a group of adults.
  • Curriculum development experience and classroom experience that helps to inform the teacher evaluation process.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for experiential learning
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Positive and collaborative attitude
  • First Aid and CPR certication obtained before start date of program
  • Candidates must satisfactorily complete two criminal background checks

Compensation and Benefits
The total stipend for this position is $10,600-$10,800. Lunch is included. Summer at Lakeside also oers free Investigative Learning Camp enrollment for children (entering Gr.3-8) of summer employees during the weeks they are working. The Investigative Learning Camp runs July 7-Aug.1.Application Process
