Job Description: Job Title: Senior Hydraulic Fracturing Software EngineerGeneral Description: Sinopec Houston Tech has an immediate opening for Senior Hydraulic Fracturing Software Engineer for reservoir stimulation, hydraulic fracture and geomechanics modeling. This position will be responsible for developing hydraulic fracturing and geomechanics software to model 3D hydraulic fracturing propagation and well completion design. This developer will work closely with geoscientists, geomechanics and software engineers to develop innovative software to support Sinopec’s upstream projects.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Will be responsible for developing innovative hydraulic fracturing and geomechanics software.
- Will develop models, efficient numerical solution, and software for hydraulic fracturing, geomechanics and reservoir modeling.
- Will design, develop, and maintain software and assist in software testing.
- Will develop 3D finite element method (FEM) or other numerical software.
- Will actively contribute to ensure quality in project execution and maintain source code quality.
- Will create and maintain software documentation.
- Will share expertise throughout the team.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
- Strong and proven programming skills in 2 or more of the following languages: Python, Fortran, C++, C#, Java.
- Expert level knowledge and working experience in numerical methods and coding (e.g., FEM, FDM) for hydraulic fracture modeling.
- Practical and hand-on experience in completion, geomechanics, and fracture mechanics.
- Proven experience in parallel computing coding and other high-performance computing.
- Proven experience of coding in Linux and Windows environments.
- Organized and detail-oriented with strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience in programming of 3D visualization.
- Software development experience in numerical analysis or reservoir simulation is preferred.
- Proficient in software documentation and reports.
- Self-starter and self-discipline with multi-tasking abilities.
- High degree of integrity and self-discipline to complete objectives on time.
- Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential IP of the company.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanics, Computer Science, or related technical field (e.g. geomechanics, geology, reservoir simulation) involving coding.
- 5+ years of working experience as a Software Engineer for Hydraulic Fracturing, Geomechanics modeling, or FEM software programming.
- Some domestic and international travel may be required (normally
10 %).
- Must be legally eligible to work in the US
