Base Operations at Page Field is an award-winning, fixed-based operator and has been recognized for its customer service and facilities.A $331 million Terminal Expansion Project is currently underway at RSW to improve the airport travel experience by consolidating the security checkpoints, adding concession space, and providing passengers with more amenities and options. The Terminal Expansion Phase 2 Project will begin in the fall of 2024 and add Concourse E with 14 gates, expand the Chiller Plant Facility, as well as make other associated terminal, landside, and airside improvements. The anticipated hourly starting rate for the ideal candidate is between $24.93 – $29.92The PositionThe Lee County Port Authority is seeking a skilled and highly motivated individual to join our electrical and mechanical technician team, where you will enjoy a positive and supportive work environment in a challenging and rewarding career in the aviation industry. This role involves maintaining and repairing critical electrical and mechanical systems using technical knowledge in a fast-paced airport environment. If you enjoy troubleshooting, problem-solving, and working with hand tools, power tools, and various measuring and testing instruments, we encourage you to apply! We provide all the necessary tools to support your work, including a safety shoe reimbursement and uniform program with optional laundry service, so you can focus on your tasks.Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, inspect, and perform preventive maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment (airfield lighting system, emergency generator systems, fuel adjustment, security fencing, parking lots, and roadway lighting)
  • Install and repair electrical and building systems (energy management; parts and components calibration; electrical and pneumatic/hydraulic systems; concrete and asphalt pavements; and, structure repair)
  • Maintain industrial air handlers, pumps, and HVAC systems
  • Perform basic and finish carpentry to include cabinets, shelving, and paneling
  • Plumbing repair (fixture, septic/sewer lines, water sources, and lift stations)
  • Tile, plaster, cement, masonry work, caulking, and painting, including bathroom renovation and flooring
  • Safety compliance

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be able to communicate and follow written and oral instructions in English
  • A high school diploma/GED is required
  • Three years of experience as an industrial maintenance technician, HVAC mechanic, electrician, or similar trade is required
  • Intermediate Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) is required within one year of employment, advanced TTC is preferred
  • A Florida Driver’s License is required, and a CDL is preferred
  • A valid certificate of competency for Lee County or the State of Florida, a journeyman in one of the major building maintenance trades, and/or an EPA Universal Refrigerant License is preferred.

Emergency Response/Recovery Activities: Lee County Port Authority personnel are designated by tier levels and may be called upon to assist with an emergency or unforeseen event at any time. Employees may be called to fulfill duties that are outside their normal scope of work to assist in resuming airport operations and flight activities.Overview of BenefitsFlorida Retirement System (FRS)The employee has a choice of a pension or an investment plan. The FRS Pension Plan is a traditional defined benefit plan that offers you a guaranteed monthly benefit for life after the required vesting period. The FRS Investment Plan is a defined contribution plan that receives an employer contribution of 8.3% for regular class employees and 16% for special risk employees . Both are employee and employer-sponsored retirement plans. Lee County Port Authority employees eligible to participate in FRS are required to contribute 3% of each paycheck to FRS. If you have retired from the FRS pension plan, please be advised that you are not eligible for renewed membership in either of the FRS retirement plan options.Medical InsuranceThe Port Authority offers two plan choices for all full-time employees, their spouse and their dependents. Coverage begins the first of the month following their date of hire.Dental InsuranceThe Port Authority offers a dental plan for full time employees, their spouse and children.Vision InsuranceIf you are enrolled in the medical plan you and your family are eligible for basic vision coverage through vision discounts. Employees are insured at an amount equal to the annual salary rounded to the next higher thousand dollars. The AD&D insurance provides additional coverage in the event the employee should lose their limb(s), eyesight or die.Optional Life InsuranceThe Port Authority provides the employee with an option to purchase additional life insurance coverage for him/herself, their spouse and their child(ren).Short Term DisabilityThe Port Authority provides the employee with short term disability coverage for him/herself at no cost to the employee.Long Term DisabilityThe Port Authority provides this benefit at no cost to the employee.
