Job Description: GENERAL DESCRIPTIONWe are seeking a senior human factors / systems safety engineer to take on the lead systems safety engineer role on multiple concurrent projects for US DoD, foreign military, and commercial customers. In this position you will be able to apply your human factors and systems safety engineering experience and principles on military avionics and weapons systems. As the human factors and systems safety engineer you will be engaged in all aspects of design and development with a specific focus on definition of high level functional, performance, and safety requirements and tracking them through design, verification, integration, and operational validation. This position may be the technical lead for projects during both the design and test phases. - A wide degree of creativity and latitude is encouraged.
- Lead Systems Engineering Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings with customers, customer airworthiness approval authority subject matter experts and subcontractor SMEs to manage scope, expectations, messaging, and obtain successful airworthiness release.
- Develop high level system requirements and lower-level requirements derivation.
- Manage systems’ requirements database and track requirements validation / verification.
- Analyze and translate customer requirements into System Architecture Diagrams, Block Diagrams, and hardware and interface specifications.
- Develop system architecture and interfaces between subsystems, mission systems and host platforms.
- Develop Airworthiness Qualification Specifications (AQS).
- Develop Test Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP).
- Develop Human Engineering Systems Analyst Report (HESAR).
- Develop Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA).
- Develop Fault Tree Analysis (FTA).
- Develop Safety Assessment Report (SAR).
- Develop and present formal and informal design reviews.
- Perform technical risk assessments and assist in the preparation of risk mitigation plans.
- Review analysis and designs of multifunctional engineers to ensure compliance with systems requirements.
- Review test reports to ensure compliance with systems requirements.
- Review completed installations to ensure conformance to design and compliance with systems requirements.
- Develop subsystem and systems level testing requirements, write test plans, test procedures, and test reports.
- Communicate technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree (BS) in Engineering (Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer) or closely related Science, Physics or Math degree is required.
- Master of Science (MS) Degree is a plus.
- Minimum 8 years of related experience in Systems Safety and Human Factors Engineering is required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interface with customers and technical professionals at all levels is required.
- Familiarity with modern avionics architectures and avionics systems is required.
- A working knowledge of DoD and/or FAA airworthiness certification requirements is required.
- A working knowledge of IBM® DOORS® or other requirements management database tool is a plus.
- A working knowledge of DO-178 and DO-254 is a plus.
- Experience in developing a military System Safety Program Plan and related assessments in accordance with MIL-STD-882 or ARP4761 and ARP4754 processes in support of aircraft systems qualification is a plus.
- Ability to operate in a fast-paced multi-tasking customer service-oriented environment with a high degree of efficient and effective performance is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.

- May be required to lift up to 25 pounds and carry for short distances.
- Must be able to distinguish color and judge three-dimensional depth.
- Normally works in an office setting with controlled temperature.
