Job Description: DescriptionThe County of Yolo is recruiting to fill one (1) regular, full-time positions in the class of Road Maintenance Crewleader. The eligible list that is established as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies in this class as they become available countywide.The ideal candidateThe ideal candidate for the Road Maintenance Crewleader position may have experience responsibly and safely leading a crew of road maintenance workers and assign tasks to crew members.The PositionUnder general supervision, assists the Public Works Superintendent and the District Road Supervisor with the recordkeeping duties associated with the effective operations of the department; participates in the full range of duties involved with a road construction and maintenance crew; and performs other related duties as required.How To ApplyInterested applicants should submit an online County of Yolo Employment Application.   • Review the work of staff involved in the maintenance and construction of county roads, bridges, culverts, drainage systems, and roadside trash pickup. Provide feedback to Road Superintendent in the completeness and quality of work performed by crewmembers.
  • Evaluate operations and activities of assigned responsibility for crews. Make recommendations to improve and modify the work system, such as evaluate equipment and personnel needs and assist in the modification of work methods.
  • Assist the Road Engineering staff with bridge inspections. Organize and schedule annual bridge inspection and repairs.
  • Organize and coordinate regular road inspection as necessary for the Pavement Management System.
  • Assist in inspecting roads, bridges, culverts and traffic signs for damage and repair. Assist in inspecting collective drainage areas for debris and cleanup.
  • Participate in the full range of maintenance, repair and construction duties including performing the most difficult duties assigned to the work unit.
  • Maintain daily records of work assignments and maintain time and equipment usage records. Prepare various reports on operations and activities.
  • Assist Road Superintendent and Quality Process and Control Planner in coordinating, prioritizing, assigning, and reporting work in accordance with the criteria established for the work measurement program.
  • Assist in handling and resolving customer complaints.

Employment StandardsMinimum QualificationsExperience: Four years of general experience in road construction and maintenance work, which includes one year of lead or supervisory responsibility; OR one year of advanced journey level experience comparable to a Senior Road Maintenance Worker at Yolo County.Education: High School graduation or possession of a G.E.D. certificate.License: Possession of a valid Class A driver’s license issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Positions in this classification require incumbents to possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license, Class C or higher, to carry out job related duties.
