A pre-qualified pool is a group of applicants who meet the requirements and have successfully passed the examination process for a specific position title that is designated as a pre-qualified position.
The following job titles currently require pre-qualification:Pre-Qualified recruitments are open at certain times of the year and are open to all who wish to apply. Only those candidates whose combined education and experience meet the minimum position requirements will be considered qualified and advance in the examination process. We encourage you to become pre-qualified for multiple position titles when the pre-qualified positions are open and accepting new applications. Look for “Pre-Qualified Pool”in the Job Title.Pre-Qualifying has its advantages:
- One-time application and exam process per pre-qualified position title(s).
- Successful applicants will remain active in that pre-qualified position pool for a period of one (1) year.
- If your prequalification status is due to expire within a year, this is the opportunity to extend your eligibility for the pre-qualified position without interruption.
How do I become a Pre-Qualified Applicant?
You must submit an online application when the Pre-Qualified Pool positions are open and accepting new applicants. School Clerk ISchool Clerk IIMinimum QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Administrative Assistant I
Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to graduation from a recognized four (4) year college or university with a degree in business or public administration and one (1) year of recent, related experience.Elementary School Assistant
Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to four (4) years of experience in planning, organizing, and directing non-instructional activities in an educational, community, or business setting.School Clerk I
Any combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to one (1) year of recent, full-time equivalent, paid office-clerical experience. One (1) school year (ten full-time equivalent months) is acceptable.School Clerk IIAny combination of training, experience, and/or education equivalent to two years of recent, full-time equivalent, paid increasingly responsible office-clerical experience. Two school years (twenty full-time equivalent months) are acceptable. Possession of a valid California driver’s license and availability of private vehicles may be required for designated positions (mileage expense allowance provided).

N/ASchool Clerk IRequires that incumbents be skilled in typing/keyboarding at a minimum of 25 words per minute*.School Clerk IIRequires that incumbents be skilled in typing/keyboarding at a minimum of 40 words per minute*.
(*) Applicants must certify in writing that they have such skills. Demonstrated proficiency will be expected during the probationary period for the class.Supplemental InformationEXAMINATION PROCESS:
Only those candidates whose application demonstrates a combined education and experience which meets the minimum requirements for the position will be considered qualified and advanced in the examination process.All positions require qualified candidates to pass the examination process which may include one or more of the following components:
- An application screening and evaluation based on the candidate’s education, work history, and responses to the supplemental questions. Please note that not all qualified applicants will advance to subsequent phases of the examination process.
- A multiple-choice exam specific to the position(s).**
- Some positions may also require a performance evaluation (Microsoft Word and/or Excel).**
**Multiple-choice exams and performance evaluations will be conducted remotely utilizing an online testing platform. Candidates will be given one test opportunity per exam during the pre-qual examination process. Exam information will be communicated to candidates via email.
