A $331 million Terminal Expansion Project is currently underway at RSW to improve the airport travel experience by consolidating the security checkpoints, adding concession space and providing passengers more amenities and options. The Terminal Expansion Phase 2 Project will begin in fall 2024 and add Concourse E with 14 gates, expand the Chiller Plant Facility, as well as make other associated terminal, landside and airside improvements.The anticipated starting rate for this position is $18.22/hourThe Position
The Lee County Port Authority is seeking an individual to join the dynamic airport operations department as a part-time Customer Care Associate. The Customer Care Associate assists the terminal operations team in enhancing the overall guest experience at Southwest Florida International Airport by welcoming travelers, anticipating their needs and ensuring a safe, efficient terminal experience while they move through our airport. The ideal candidate should enjoy interacting with the public on a one-to-one basis, have a positive attitude and put safety as a priority.Key Responsibilities

  • Assist at the security checkpoints by greeting passengers and directing them to the appropriate queue line, assist with queue line management and answer any customer service-related questions
  • Assist with the Port Authority’s Lost & Found program
  • Conduct terminal and concession inspections and report any discrepancies to the appropriate department in a timely manner
  • Assist passengers with navigating the terminal facility, as well as answer any general airport-related questions
  • Facilitate professional assistance to travelers in need of police or medical aid
  • Assist with terminal-related projects, as needed
  • Part-time Customer Service Associates normally work a 56-hour, bi-weekly work period (e.g., 28 hours/ per week); however, they may be asked to work additional hours.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid Florida driver’s license
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. A minimum of two years of aviation and/or customer service experience preferred
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and have the ability to effectively communicate with others in stressful situations
  • Candidates will be required to stand and walk for sustained periods of time

OtherEmergency Response/Recovery Activities: Lee County Port Authority personnel are designated by tier levels and may be called upon to assist with an emergency or unforeseen event at any time. Employees may be called to fulfill duties that are outside their normal scope of work to assist in resuming airport operations and flight activities.Florida Retirement System (FRS)The employee has a choice of a pension or an investment plan. The FRS Pension Plan is a traditional defined benefit plan that offers you a guaranteed monthly benefit for life after the required vesting period. The FRS Investment Plan is a defined contribution plan that receives an employer contribution of 6.3% for regular class emloyees and 14% for special risk employees . Both are employee and employer-sponsored retirement plans. Lee County Port Authority employees eligible to participate in FRS are required to contribute 3% of each paycheck to FRS. If you have retired from the FRS pension plan, please be advised that you are not eligible for renewed membership in either of the FRS retirement plan options.
