The Nurse Mentor Emeritus serves as a consultant, facilitator, preceptor and educator for the staff. The Nurse Mentor Emeritus enables Novice Nurses or Nurses new to that unit to practice new skills in the clinical settings with the support and guidance of a more specialized and experienced clinician.Responsibilities

• Supports and enhances high level problem solving, diagnostic, and decision-making skills.
• Helps develop logical reasoning and the ability to draw logical inferences from patient information; i.e. assessment, labs and translates it into clinical application.
• Provides constructive feedback on performance.
• Promotes collegial relationships with coworkers.
• Listens carefully to mentees’ concerns.
• Takes a respectful attitude toward my strengths and weaknesses in the development of the novice nurse. Provides feedback in a timely fashion.

ExperienceGenerally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience.EducationAssociate’s degree in Nursing is required.
