Title of the Job: Medicaid Claims Biller

Location: Taylor, MI

Job Description: Cardinal Staffing is seeking a Medical Claims Biller for an immediate opening in Taylor, MI. 1st shift = 8:30M-5PM Mon.-Fri. $16.50/hour Weekly pay. Essential Functions of Job: The Medicaid Claims Biller is responsible for a variety of tasks, including:

  • Collecting reimbursements: Gathering, coding, and transmitting patient care information to collect Medicaid reimbursements
  • Reviewing patient records: Checking patient hospital records for proper Medicaid coding and completeness
  • Analyzing billing records: Reviewing patient billing records for accuracy and completeness
  • Resolving discrepancies: Conducting research and correcting errors to resolve billing discrepancies
  • Resolving disputed claims: Consulting with state Medicaid administration claims clerks to resolve disputed claims
  • Preparing reports: Preparing monthly reports of Medicaid billings, adjustments, and revenues received
  • Verifying payments: Ensuring payments by verifying the accuracy of Medicaid coding
  • Adjusting patient bills: Reviewing remittance advice and consulting with Medicaid office to adjust patient bills

Skills required to carry out the essential functions include the ability to:

  • Understand and follow healthcare regulations such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) that governs the safe handling of patient information
  • Knowledge of Michigan Medicaid Billing codes
  • Ability to use critical thinking to analyze, assess and interpret financial summaries, determine billing rates and spot potentially costly discrepancies
  • Technological competence, particularly with billing software
  • Proficient in key coding systems to translate patient records into billable services accurately
  • Interact appropriately and collaborate with fellow employees and management
  • Communicate effectively (written and oral) with other employees and management
  • Basic knowledge of the use of office equipment such as computers, copiers, etc.

Attendance/Hours required as part of the essential functions: Full time, 40 hour, 5 day work week.
Educational and or prior experience requirements include: Associates degree preferred but not required. Minimum of 2 years relevant experience.
