  • You will review Engineering work of minor complexity under supervision of a senior engineer.
  • You will study engineering texts, periodicals, manufacturer’s publications and other technical material to obtain information on materials, equipment and pertinent data.
  • You will prepare layout and detail drawings on relatively routine projects.
  • You will perform work with a larger more complex project pertaining to the design of mechanical systems for naval ships, ship systems and combat systems

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to sign a mobility agreement to accept relocation to other geographic locations if required by the employer.

QualificationsIn addition to the basic education requirements, applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:FOR GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Developing engineering test data; 2) Writing technical engineering reports 3) Performing engineering calculations; 4) Analyzing technical information for accuracy; and 5) formulating test plans to ensure scientific accuracy.OR1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement, that is directly related to the position.FOR GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conducting cost estimates and feasibility studies; 2) Reviewing design proposals; and 3) Reviewing reports of failures and recommending remedial action.OR2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master’s degree or master’s or equivalent graduate degree, that is directly related to the position.Education Substitution: If you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you must submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume. One full academic year of graduate education, law school
OR
Superior Academic Achievement (SAA) through the following method (only one). No more than 10% of academic credit can be based on pass/fail or similar non-traditional grading systems.
2.95 GPA overall or higher or in last 2 years (= or less than 10% Pass/Fail)
3.45 GPA or higher in major or in last 2 years in major (= or less than 10% Pass/Fail)
Upper 1/3 ranking in graduating class (You must submit proof with your application)

Successful completion of a master’s or equivalent graduate degree
OR
