Job Description: **Internal Senior Site Directors Only**Summer Placement Preference FormAs a Senior Site Director, you are a full-time, year-round employee, and your position for the summer program is guaranteed at your current pay rate. You will have the opportunity to indicate your first-choice program for the summer, as well as your top four preferred positions for consideration. Please note that while your preferences will be taken into account, they do not guarantee placement.**PLEASE READ**ONLY APPLIES TO SAC POSITIONS**To offer full transparency, the Summer Adventure Camp Program is currently undergoing a major redesign. The new Summer Adventure Camp model will have a stronger emphasis on outdoor programming and field trips, including traditional walking, biking, and people mover outings. Additionally we will include weekly visits to Camp Fireweed and other exciting excursions, expanding the scope of experiences offered.As the program evolves, the details provided here—including position titles, program hours, and the program name—may be subject to some adjustments.Additionally, a town hall meeting will be held in December (more details to come) to provide further information about the redesigned Summer Adventure Camp program and to address any questions you may have.We strongly encourage you to review the program overview and position descriptions carefully before submitting your summer intent.   • Unit Leader
  • The unit leader is responsible for the overall management and supervision of assigned units (camper/staff groups), overseeing all aspects of youth and staff supervision and safety.
  • Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated leadership ability; minimum of one (1) year/season prior experience in staff supervision and youth management.
  • Behavior Intervention Specialist
  • The Behavior Intervention Specialist will support staff by working closely with youth who require additional resources and guidance to thrive in the program. They will provide coaching to staff, helping them develop effective strategies for managing challenging behaviors, and will intervene as needed to offer direct support.
  • Qualifications:
  • Prior experience working with high needs youth.
  • Prior experience with youth social emotional development needs
  • Field Trip Coordinator
  • The Field Trip Coordinator will plan, organize, prep and facilitate all field trips for their program. This will include a variety of one big weekly field trip, weekly visits to Camp Fireweed and local walking, biking or people mover field trips.
  • Qualifications:
  • Prior experience planning and facilitating field trips
  • Valid Driver’s License and eligibility to drive agency vehicles.

Camp Fireweed

  • Archery Specialist
  • An Archery Specialist will be responsible for providing instruction, guidance, and supervision to staff and campers during Archery lessons and camp activities.
  • Qualifications:
  • Current certification in archery instruction from a nationally organized provider(s), or ability to obtain prior to season start.
  • Prior experience in instructing archery preferred.
  • Aquatics Lead
  • The Aquatics Lead will be responsible for developing and executing progressive, inclusive and fun water activities, including swimming and paddle craft activities, as well as supervision of Lifeguards.
  • Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in leading/facilitating swim lesson/activities.
  • Current Lifeguard Certification (By Start of Position).
  • Water Safety Instructor/Swim Instructor Certification from a nationally recognized provider(s) preferred.
  • Prior experience in boating instruction and lesson planning in an open water setting.
  • Current instructor rating/instructor certification in the appropriate craft from a nationally recognized certifying body; American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred.
  • Rockwall Specialist
  • This position will be responsible for providing instruction, guidance, and supervision to staff and campers during rock wall climbing lessons and camp activities. Additionally, this position will serve as back-up providing for coverage for Cabin Counselor duties as needed.
  • Qualifications:
  • Current Belay Certification or evidence of successful training.
  • Prior experience in leading/facilitating recreational wall climbing, bouldering, and belaying, preferred.
  • Behavior & Health Specialist
  • The Camp Health Specialists provide oversight of maintaining and monitoring youth attendance, youth files, completing all relevant paperwork and printing in a timely manner, meeting weekly with the Camp Fire AK Family Service Manager, communicating with parents, camper behavior and healthcare and the overall camp health needs.
  • Qualifications
  • Prior experience working with high needs youth.
  • Prior experience with youth healthcare delivery and youth social and emotional development needs, preferred.
  • Unit Leader
  • The Unit Leader is responsible for the overall management and supervision of assigned units, overseeing all aspects of youth safety and staff supervision.
  • Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated leadership ability; minimum of one (1) year/season prior experience in staff supervision and youth management.
