The Mission of the Department of Public Instruction:
The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) is charged with implementing the state’s public school laws for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade public schools at the direction of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and State Board of Education.The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction is seeking applicants for an Education Program Administrator I (Working Title: IDEA Consultant: Regional Administrative Support) in the Piedmont-Triad Region (Region 5) for our Office of Exceptional Children / Regional Administrative Support.The Office of Exceptional Children / Regional Administrative Support is responsible for coordinating targeted technical assistance and professional development in alignment with the State Performance Plan, Annual Performance Report and the federal requirements under General Supervision established by the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Activities include systems-level coaching to support local planning, implementation, funding, and monitoring of local exceptional children programs; tracking and ensuring implementation of corrective action ordered through the OEC’s monitoring and dispute resolution system; collaboration with the NCDPI Regional Support Team in support of overall district improvement; and creating/implementing networks of support statewide.This position is responsible for providing instructional, fiscal management, and administrative targeted technical assistance to public school units to support effective programming for students with disabilities;providing PSUs with assistance with corrective action plan (CAP) activities following a monitoring visit, program evaluation, or the investigation of a formal complaint or due process hearing, and ensure implementation of such CAPs; keeping current with state and federal rules, regulations and laws.
