This is a professional-level position in the Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services’ Fire Chief’s Office where the incumbent performs analytical work in either conducting studies, reviews or handling special projects in order to assist upper management in making decisions. Incumbents are expected to develop methodologies, metrics and measurement and analysis techniques in order to evaluate current performance levels, identify gaps and recommend courses of action; plan and conduct studies, reviews, and special projects which necessitate research, complex data collection and analysis in order to generate recommendations and prepare related reports; and perform other duties as assigned.Essential Duties

  • Reviews and analyzes a wide variety of paperwork in the department related to operations and activities.
  • Plans and conducts audits/reviews and special projects which necessitate research, interviews, observations, complex data collection and analysis in order to generate recommendations and prepare related reports.
  • Develop methodologies, metrics and measurement and analysis techniques in order to continuously evaluate current performance levels, identify gaps and recommend courses of action that will lead to the closing of those gaps.
  • Create systems for gathering, analyzing, and disseminating best practices knowledge and techniques to the organization on an on-going basis.
  • Providing design and analysis expertise with the express purpose of making recommendations for improving operational efficiency and productivity.
  • Develop and implement process improvements through research and analysis of existing business and system processes.
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and monitoring of metrics designed to measure operational efficiency, cost efficiency, and optimal staffing/productivity levels for the County.
  • Assist in the measurement of operational efficiency and productivity in operating channels.
  • Provide and implement strategic initiatives and tactical plans, including the coordination of necessary resources to meet project goals.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Public Speaking Duties

  • Preparing and giving technical presentations to Fire Department Executive Leadership.

Other Job Requirements/Information

  • This job is a civilian position in a public safety department with close ties to public safety. Due to the sensitive nature of this position, a public safety background which may include motor vehicle & criminal histories, and fingerprinting.

Grade
The grade for this position is 102.Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or a closely related field;
  • Two years of professional analyst experience, including one year of project management experience;
  • Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job

Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications

  • Experience with strategy and performance management methodology;
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications; ARC GIS; Corporator; Fire View; Crystal Reports; Fire Records; ESO Suite Records Management
