Job Description: Job DetailsJob Location: Bogen – Los Angeles, CAPosition Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $28.50 – $28.50 HourlyTravel Percentage: Up to 10%DescriptionUnder the direction of the Lead Teacher/or Mentor Teacher, the Early Head Start (EHS) Teacher II will monitor and supervise the children in the classroom. EHS Teacher II plans, facilitates, and implements a responsive approach to curriculum activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth. EHS Teacher II will assess and develop individual and group activities to stimulate learning, according to each child’s development and learning approach. EHS Teacher II will be responsible for completing required educational records and ensures care and supervision of all students by maintaining a safe, clean, and healthy stimulating learning environment. Must assure inclusion of children with Individual Family Development Plan (IFSPs) and Dual Language Learners (DLL). Encourage parents’ engagement in the educational activities of the program by developing/enhancing their role as the main influence on their child’s school readiness and development.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Engages families as advocates, lifelong educators, and first teachers of their children by creating family and father-friendly environments that are welcoming and comfortable.

  • The ability to communicate effectively with staff and parents is key to providing quality services to children and families.
  • Develops and implements conflict management and problem-solving strategies for children, staff, and parents when stepping in as a mediator.
  • Follow all St. Anne’s Family Services rules and regulations. Maintain confidentiality as required by St. Anne’s, licensing, HIPAA, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Discuss health topics including nutritious foods as part of the lesson plan.
  • Must be available for parents before and after class and during parent teacher conferences and home visits to discuss observations related to a child’s behavior, development, and strategies to support child.
  • Works with parents to create IDPs (individual development plan) for each child and develop activities to be implemented at home, which supports and enhances the role of parents as the primary educators of their children with a focus on school readiness goals.
  • Participate in gearing the program toward the needs of individual children with focus on their interests, disabilities, strengths, individual style and pace of learning. Provide children with an environment that includes varied activities to help children develop socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physical in manner appropriate to their age and stage of development, with the overall goal being to achieve social competence for the child.
  • Implements the program curriculum for children. Plan individual and group activities to stimulate learning and promote parent involvement in the child’s learning. Works cooperatively with Co-Teacher and Family Service Advocate (FSA) to provide information and resources to enrolled families.

Assist in the implementation of the program for the class in accordance with the policies and philosophy of the St. Anne’s Early Learning Centers, Head Start, and CDE.Integrate various HS services into the learning, such as parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health, and mental health services.Conducts daily classroom planning, maintains children’s records in conjunction with the FSA, and submits accurate monthly paperwork on a timely basis.Observes, screens, and assess students’ development level and develops goals that relate to each student (individualization). Will be assigned and responsible for 75% of the classroom’s caseload when working with EHS Teacher I for the following tasks: DRDP, IDP’s, ASQs, conferencing, MTSS activities, STEM activities, documenting IRs, documenting CCL forms and reporting as needed.Prepare workshops/trainings to present during Staff Meetings or as part of a group on Professional Development days.Provide a learning environment that reflects the varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds of the children in the program and the larger communities and societies in which they live.Provide a physical environment consistent with state and local licensing requirements and the health and safety needs of the children.Is a mandated reporter of child abuse and neglect.Record anecdotal notes and aggregate data using Child Plus data collection system.Guide children in identifying their roles as integral members of a group.Assist/collaborate with Teacher I, Teacher, and Teacher Assistant supervising the classroom to ensure that active care and supervision is occurring at all times.Continually remains current on child development practices through classes, workshops, and membership in a professional organization.QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS:Minimum of an Associate’s of Arts degree in early childhood education, child development, or related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by a regional accreditationassociation recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Bachelor’s of Arts (BA) in early childhood education, child development, or related field preferred.Must possess a California Child Development Teacher Permit. If no child development permit is held at the time of hire, must obtain a temporary permit before starting in the classroom.Must have 6 units of Infant/Toddler course, 3 units minimum. If less than 6 infant/toddler units, must complete missing infant/toddler units to meet 6-unit requirement, within the first year of employment.Two years’ experience preferred as a paid staff or volunteer in a licensed childcare center serving children under 5 years old.Able to relate well to both children and adultsMust provide leadership and stability for program continuity.Preferred experience or training in infant/toddler development, safety issues; and methods for communicating effectively with infants, toddlers, parents and other staff members.Bilingual English/Spanish/Tagalog/Korean preferred.Must possess a valid government issued ID. Preferred, someone who possess and maintain a valid Class C California driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and driving record acceptable to agency’s insurance carrier during entirety of the position.St. Anne’s values the dignity and worth of every person we serve.
