Grow your career with a leading environmental consulting firm serving a wide variety of private, federal, state, and local government clients in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Louisiana, and the surrounding region.Your role will be to perform field work including species surveys, habitat assessments, wetland delineations, compliance monitoring, inspections, and technical support services. You will also write reports, develop plans, and implement steps to move projects toward closure in the most cost-effective manner.Your Key ResponsibilitiesSupport data collection efforts for wetland delineations and wetland functional/conditional assessments under applicable agency regulationsConduct vegetation inventories and monitoringComplete wildlife surveys and habitat assessments for listed species (migratory birds and threatened/endangered species)Lead and work alongside field teamsRecord, enter, organize, and analyze ecological/environmental dataPrepare report documentation and supporting materials for client and regulatory agency submittalsComplete tasks with consideration for your own and the team’s safetyTravel to projects to perform field assessments throughout Stantec’s service areaQualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsInterest in ecosystems, natural resource conservation/restoration, and the outdoors is essentialAble to solve problems using critical thinkingWorking knowledge of Texas and southeastern United States vegetation and speciesStrong verbal and written communication skillsProficient MS Office skillsComprehensive note-taking skills and attention to detailDemonstrated ability to work independently with a high work ethicProven field skills including the ability to navigate in difficult terrain using aerial mapsFamiliarity with GPS data collection within a broad range of ecological communities and environmental regulatory frameworksConsulting experience is preferredPossesses a valid driver’s license and a good driving recordWilling and able to travel and conduct fieldwork in remote areas (50-75% of the time), including overnight travelAble to lift and move items and equipmentCertified Wetland Delineator is a plusPossess a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s or Master’s degree in wildlife biology, rangeland ecology, environmental science, forestry, botany, soil science, or a closely related natural resource fieldThree of more years of related experienceThis position works in both field and office settings.
