Position Essential Functions Responsibilities

  • Control operation of an automated dredge; meeting production goals for tonnage of raw materials.
  • Check, service and assist in making minor and emergency adjustments and repairs in the field and in the repair shop.
  • Move equipment from one location to another.
  • Perform other work as assigned when not engaged in operating equipment including maintenance and repair work.
  • Evaluates equipment failures for root cause, communicate findings, make suggestions for equipment improvements and be able to install modifications as directed.
  • Process raw materials as required.
  • Monitor and maintain all processing systems.
  • Develop and maintain a safe environmentally compliant operation with the assistance of Company Safety and Environmental Representatives.
  • Maintain the equipment with assistance of maintenance personnel.
  • Understand and meet all MSHA, and local safety requirements as well as maintaining environmental issues.
  • Operates heavy equipment and machinery as needed.
  • Maintains preventative maintenance schedules for inspecting,
  • Lubricates, cleans and services equipment.
  • Orders or requisitions all parts and materials for repairs or replacement.
  • Assists in the installation of various machinery.
  • Keeps work area clean and in a safe condition.
  • Obtains, stores, records, safeguards and properly uses equipment, materials and supplies.
  • Keeps the essential records of time spent, materials used and work completed.
  • Completes work assignments in the allotted time frame.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year’s of experience as a Dredge Operator or a position with transferable skills to sand quarry equipment.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Education from a technical school in a related field preferred (welding, electrical, maintenance etc.) preferred.
  • Quarry/mining experience.
  • Possess a working knowledge of Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems.
  • Knowledge of the common reasons for mechanical failure and the steps necessary to correct malfunctioning on different types of motors/machinery.
  • Knowledge and experience with safety regulations, i.e. OSHA, MSHA.
  • Must possess an even temperament to work under pressure to prevent costly delays in production that can result from machinery breakdown
  • Must have willingness to put in extra hours of work when necessary.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Possesses a sense of urgency and ownership to complete assignments/projects through to completion.
  • Ability to respond with flexibility and efficiency to frequent changes in task focus, competing priorities, and multiple deadlines.

Working Conditions:

  • Able to work extended hours as needed
  • Continuous exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, extreme noise, and working outdoors
  • Must wear protective equipment while at the location

Physical Requirements

  • Requires stationary position, traverse, move, transport, and the ability to significant degree to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position
  • Must be able to work at heights; climb stairs, ladders, and silos
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • Requires Concrete chipping, shoveling, sweeping and greasing of plant equipment
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with employees and other individuals as well as function safely within an office environment and, on occasion, may visit industrial plant locations
  • Requires stationary position, traverse, move, transport, and the ability to significant degree to operate, activate, use, prepare, inspect, place, detect, or position
  • Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with employees and other individuals as well as function safely within an office environment and plant locations
  • Must be able to work at heights; climb stairs, ladders, and silos
