Title of the Job: Draftsperson Intern

Location: Lansdale, PA

Job Description: ESSENTIAL DUTIESAs an intern in the Draftsperson role, employees will be shadowing other Drafting employees and providing assistance in creating technical drawings and plans for custom cabinetry projects. This position will help the intern develop important skills like attention to detail, problem-solving, and teamwork, as you collaborate with designers, engineers, and production teams to produce high-quality cabinetry designs.This internship will provide employees with hands-on experience and a strong foundation in drafting, design collaboration, and project management.

  • Technical Drawings: Use CAD software to help create 2D and 3D drawings. You’ll learn how to clearly communicate dimensions, materials, and other specifications.
  • Design Collaboration: Work with experienced designers to turn design ideas into technical drawings that balance aesthetics and function.
  • Material Specifications: Learn how to identify and specify materials, hardware, and finishes for designs, as well as assist with coordination with suppliers.
  • Project Documentation: Assist in preparing and maintaining project documentation, such as drawings and material lists, and track changes throughout the process.
  • Quality Assurance: Help review and update drawings based on feedback to ensure everything is accurate and feasible for production.
  • Production Support: Provide support to the production team by answering questions or addressing any issues that arise during manufacturing.
  • Client Interaction: Occasionally observe or assist in client meetings, learning how to discuss design details and handle custom requests.
  • Compliance: Help ensure that all designs follow industry standards, building codes, and company guidelines.

  • Education: Currently enrolled as a Junior or Senior in High School.
  • Experience: Some experience or coursework in drafting, custom cabinetry, woodworking, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with CAD software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) and a basic understanding of construction methods and material properties is a plus.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and precision in all aspects of work.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members across departments.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve design and production issues proactively.
  • Time Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Employees are expected to show up for work as scheduled and work their full shift.
