The Controls Engineer will play a key role in designing, programming, testing, and commissioning PLC systems in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical systems and mechanical knowledge to ensure optimal performance of automated processes.Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement control systems, including PLC programming, HMI configuration, and SCADA integration.
- Support the overall design and development of new system functionality utilizing PLC hardware/software and Graphical User Interface (GUI) software
- Develop, test, and implement PLC programs for various manufacturing processes.
- Collaborate with clients and project teams to define project requirements and deliver customized solutions.
- Document all programming changes, maintenance activities, and system updates.
- PLC and motion control programming
- Develop HMI programming / user interfaces for multiple systems
- Provide design and integration support for hardware and software integration
- Perform system testing, troubleshooting, and on-site commissioning to ensure optimal functionality.
- Provide technical support and training to clients as needed.
- Prepare technical documentation, including system layouts, wiring diagrams, and operational manuals.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in automation and control systems.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in designing and programming industrial control systems.
- Proficiency with PLC platforms such as Allen Bradley, Siemens, or Schneider Electric.
- In depth knowledge of Rockwell Automation and Automation Direct families of hardware
- Experience programming in the CodeSys environment is a major plus
- Experience with Keyence PLCs and hardware is a plus
- Willingness to learn new hardware / PLC platforms
- Strong understanding of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to travel for project commissioning and client support as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in industries such as manufacturing, oil & gas, or pharmaceuticals.
- Knowledge of safety instrumented systems and related standards.
- Certifications in relevant areas (e.g., Ignition Core Certification, CCNA).
