Job Description: The City of Reidsville, North Carolina is seeking well qualified candidates for the position of our City Engineer. The successful candidate must have strong technical expertise in the daily operations of a municipal government’s engineering responsibilities.The City Engineer performs engineering work in the construction and design for City of Reidsville projects; performs professional and technical engineering duties for the City; and performs supervisory and administrative duties for the Engineering Division.The City Engineer functions as a Contract Administrator for many projects from the initial design, planning and development review, through the Request for Proposal process and ultimately through the project’s successful completion. These projects may include water and sewer pipeline installations, pump station replacements, pipeline rehab projects, greenway development and expansion, stormwater projects, roadways, and parking lots.Knowledge of and appropriate application of existing City ordinances is a key component for success in this position. This includes application of ordinances related to right-of way, easements, encroachment, and drive-way permitting. Basic understanding of GIS as well as the ability to update and maintain the City’s GIS data, in coordination with the City’s Planner, is essential.This position requires a NC Professional Engineer’s license to be able to design projects and certify them for state approvals.
