The purpose of this position is to develop the marketing plan for the Parks & Recreation department and assist with the generation of member sales. This is accomplished by developing and implementing marketing plans, implementing prospecting strategies, conducting facility tours, and providing membership sales reports and statistics. This includes working with facilities to collaborate on marketing strategies and assisting with membership enrollments and promotion of all Parks and Recreation facilities. This position does not provide direction to other employees.Essential FunctionsThis information is intended to be descriptive of the key responsibilities of the position.   • Creates effective outreach plans with the Chamber, local business networking groups and civic organizations. Generates strategic options for advertising by implementing advertising campaigns and analyzing forecasts, preparing marketing strategies, planning and organizing promotional presentations, tracking the progress of campaigns, and analyzing membership data.
  • Ensures marketing efforts achieve identified goals by implementing an effective rental portfolio strategy, conducting and developing guest tours and sales promotions, selling facility memberships and rentals.
  • Communicates campaign objectives, timelines, and deliverables to staff, and provides instructions for promotions. Prepares facility staff with promotional and membership knowledge by conducting educational meetings, and assisting with membership enrollment, program registration, and facility bookings utilizing the departmental software.
  • Achieves facility financial objectives by implementing promotional programs that generate revenue, procuring sponsorship and marketing revenue, and researching new sources of prospective customer data.

Job RequirementsEducation & Experience
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Marketing or related field plus one (1) year of sales experience, with a strong knowledge of the key components of the sales and fitness processes; OR
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus nine (9) years of relevant work experience
