- The incumbent will conduct and participate in long-term monitoring of vegetation resources within the network parks.
- The incumbent will be the field crew lead for all vegetation monitoring protocols (Integrated Uplands, Spring Vegetation, Fov-Needle Pine, and Aspen).
- Responsibilities will include planning and leading vegetation monitoring data collection efforts, as well as collecting vegetation monitoring data, ensuring the consistent collection of data by all crew members.
- Ensuring the safety of crew members, summarizing data for a variety of vegetation monitoring metrics, and potentially reporting or presenting the findings to a wide variety of audiences ranging from scientific peers to the general public.
- Additional responsibilities include organizing the logistics, scheduling, and planning for field implementation of the vegetation resource monitoring program.
- The incumbent will work with other field technicians and ensure that field work follows approved safety plans and data quality assurance and quality control procedures.

- You may be required to complete training and operate a four-wheel drive vehicle.
- You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided.
- You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- If you are a new employee or supervisor in the Federal government, you will be required to complete a one-year probationary period.
- You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 14 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.
- You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority.

If part-time, the hours must be annotated to be able to pro-rate the amount of qualified specialized experience.To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-06 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: This experience includes activities such as: 1) collecting monitoring data on assorted ecosystem restoration and vegetation management projects using specified sampling techniques and procedures; 2) developing plans and coordinating a diversity of ecological restoration projects (e.g., scheduling personnel, purchasing supplies, developing action plans, implementing the project and completing written and photographic documentation); 3) monitoring construction projects for compliance with natural resource specifications; and 4) leading field crews in exotic plant control or restoration projects. You must include hours per week worked.

EDUCATION: One full year of graduate education in an accredited educational institution (18 semester hour or 27 quarter hours) directly related to this position. Examples of directly related education are biology, botany, range science, forestry, ecology, environmental science, zoology, fisheries, animal husbandry, natural resource management or other directly related fields. You MUST provide a copy of your transcripts at the time of application.

COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. For example, take the number of months of full time experience, 6months is 50% then determine the percentage of education completed 50%. Add the percentages together.
