Job Description: Description of WorkThis is a position at Avery-Mitchell Correctional Institution located in Spruce Pine, North Carolina (Avery County), which is a Medium male prison facility housing approximately 800 offenders.
Responsibilities for the Administrative Officer III includes but not limited to the following: The Administrative Officer III oversees the complete business function of the prison to include all fiscal and Human Resources operations. This requires high level decision making based on knowledge of DAC and Prisons Policy as well as through understanding of Prisons Operations. This position serves on the management team and directly supervises subordinate staff responsible for the areas of budget, accounting, human resources, canteen, clothes house, maintenance, mailroom and trust fund. Position is also responsible for gathering and analyzing data providing management level reports and information on a regular basis.

- State Government experience in Budgeting, Accounting, Purchasing, and Human Resources.
- Documented experience supervising and/or managing subordinate staff.
Management Preferences:
- Experience working in North Carolina Department of Adult Correction or North Carolina Prisons.
- Experience working with the Human Resources Integrated Payroll System (formerly BEACON).
- Experience overseeing Business Operations or assisting a Management Level professional with oversight of a large or complex Business Operation.
