We are deeply committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable work environment, guided by our “Work Hard, Play Hard, Move Fast” culture, which celebrates employee innovation, determination, and dedication in a dynamic, fun, and distinctive atmosphere.This is a remote role when not traveling in the fieldWe will consider this person being based in most areas around the US!Essential Functions:Develop, as required, appropriate on-site modifications/optimizations to electrical, optical and/or mechanical systems to deliver end solution performance, in keeping with the initially designed solution specifications and engineering drawingsPlan and subsequently perform on-site engineering assignments such as installation and startup, testing & fault-finding diagnoses of materials/components of complex designServe as the company’s first point of contact for the customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects. May be responsible for day-to-day coordination of Cognex’s resource and liaise with customer site managerInterpret customer needs and determine if the responsibility for resolution falls with them or other Cognex departments. This includes keeping Sales and Service management informed of the project status, service issues, or potential new sales opportunities with the clientProvide high-level training or mentorship to new LFSE’s, LPI’s, LSP’s, and/or customersConduct ongoing assessment of partners to ensure expected standards and quality are maintainedReview and approve the operational quality of Cognex equipment and systems and instruct customers in the operation and maintenance of the system which was installedProvide timely, detailed, and accurate reports on service work performed and product performanceDemonstrate safety consciousness in equipment handling, electrical and electronic procedures, and the unique situations encountered at diverse work sitesKeep current with product technology; attend appropriate training courses when necessaryKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Demonstrated ability to independently complete technical analysis on complex systems and correctly determine the appropriate course of action using solid & logical troubleshooting skills and sound judgmentAbility to handle difficult customer situations and has the proper discernment to escalate when necessaryDedicated, focused and with an eye for detail relating to customer satisfactionHigh-Level knowledge and experience in Java scripting for data formatting and/or communications scripting and serial communications (ASCII)Excellent time-management & pro-active communication skillsAbility to provide high-level telephone technical support to FSE’s, LPI’s, integrators, and end user customersDemonstrate strong coaching and team leadership skillsAbility to multitask and work under pressure situations demonstrating a flexible work styleIndependent self-starter and worker, as well as a conscientious team playerHigh-Level knowledge of logistics products, solutions, and softwareHigh-Level knowledge of industrial controls, networking, and communications protocolsStrong CAD capability – Ability to interpret mechanical design and electrical drawings, and panel designs is requiredMinimum Education and Work Experience Required:Availability to work evening and weekend hours or varying work patterns depending on market needsAbility to be on-call and respond to customer emergencies. Frequent overnights, 70-90% of the time are common depending on project schedules and location of the roleOccasional international travel is possible to support global customersAbility to work remotely proactively and productively, as well as within a team environmentMust possess English language proficiency as a minimum for the roleValid Driver’s License without restrictionTypically requires a minimum of 4-6 years of relevant technical experience in Industrial / Manufacturing / Field Service environments (Ideally integrator, machine builder environments)Additional Job DescriptionEqual Employment OpportunityCognex is an equal opportunity employer.
