  • Accept, weigh, and move new linen to the clean linen room.
  • Collect soiled linen over established route throughout the Hospital Compound for transport to the Soiled Linen Room.
  • Uncrate, sort, and stencil new line for issue.
  • Sort, fold, and stock linen.
  • Deliver loaded linen carts weighing up to 1,100 pounds to users.
  • Conduct quarterly inventories on all hospital linen items.
  • Maintain timely and accurate records of assigned collection and delivery activities to verify clinics’/wards’ usage rates.
  • Perform maintenance on linen delivery carts; oils and replace wheels; repair and replace doors.
  • Take linen orders by phone, and fill as appropriate.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirements and is subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations unless otherwise exempted for medical or religious reasons (documentation of exemption must be provided upon hire).
  • This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.
  • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
  • Moderate to heavy lifting up to 75 pounds is required.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work on any day or shift, including PMs, nights, weekends, holidays, or on an “on call” basis, necessary to meet mission requirements.
  • This position has been designated Mission Essential. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations, the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations.
  • This position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Laundry Worker ~ without more than normal supervision. Receiving, sorting, and marking soiled linen and apparel; assembling clean linen in a supply facility; reviewing daily linen requests for accuracy; maintaining a log sheet on all linen received from the Linen Contractor on a daily basis; loading, unloading, and operating washers, extractors, and tumblers; and pressing shirts and garments. – Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

  • Physical Effort: Perform work on hard surfaces and in work areas that require the incumbent to stand, walk, stoop, teach, stretch, bend, lift, and carry. Must be capable of lifting and carrying linen bags weighing up to 75 pounds. Must be able to pull and push loaded carts of clean and/or soiled linen weighing up to 1,100 pounds. All physical efforts demand the continuous coordination and movement of hands, arms, legs, and feet with occasional physical strain exercised in the process of pushing, pulling, and lifting heavy objects.
  • Working Conditions: Personnel will be required to work on assignments that include periodic exposure to seasonal weather and interior areas that may or may not be air conditioned. This position is for permanent weekends.
