Why us, why now?The Internal Communications Specialist II is responsible for the hands-on day-to-day operation and management of the AAMC’s intranet, ensuring it functions as a critical internal communication and collaboration tool. In addition, this role will support internal communications initiatives beyond the intranet platform. This position supports internal communications planning, driving key projects to enhance information flow across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of internal communications, a passion for managing digital platforms, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. They will also be responsible for managing the intranet’s visual design, site navigation, and content structure, and ensuring the platform’s technical health to provide a positive user experience.The Internal Communications Specialist II will also leverage the intranet to support internal communications campaigns, promoting key organizational initiatives, events, and cultural efforts. They will act as a communications advisor, assisting content creators in tailoring their messages to resonate with the internal audience and meet organizational goals. Additionally, this role will lead intranet-related communication planning projects to ensure the platform is optimized for both daily communication and long-term strategic initiatives. The Specialist will support key internal communications efforts and enhance understanding of these initiatives across all platforms, including designing newsletters into Salesforce and supporting their distribution as needed. Furthermore, they will coordinate with departments to highlight employee recognition, training programs, and organizational events through the intranet.How will you make an impact?Manage Intranet OperationsOversee the daily management of the AAMC’s intranet, ensuring it functions as an effective communication and collaboration tool. This includes maintaining site navigation, visual design, and content structure to align with organizational goals.Support Internal Communications InitiativesCollaborate with internal stakeholders to develop strategies that promote key messages, updates, and projects across the intranet and other communication platforms, ensuring alignment with AAMC’s strategic priorities and initiatives. Facilitate clear, timely, and engaging communication to support organizational goals and foster a connected workplace environmentContent Strategy and DevelopmentAct as a content strategist by guiding departments in creating and curating content that is engaging, clear, and aligned with internal communications objectives. Ensure consistency in messaging and support organization-wide communication effortsUser Engagement and TrainingProvide training and support to employees at all levels on the use of the intranet, encouraging active participation and ensuring that the platform is used effectively to facilitate communication and collaboration across the organization.Monitor Technical Performance and Enhance User ExperienceIn partnership with the digital experience unit, monitor the intranet’s technical performance, analyze user engagement metrics, and work with the vendor and core intranet team to implement upgrades and resolve issues. Continuously seek opportunities to improve the platform’s functionality and enhance its impact on communication and user experience. Use data-driven insights to optimize the intranet as a critical communication and collaboration tool.What you’ll bring to the roleBachelor’s degree in communications, Marketing, Digital Media, or a related field (master’s degree is a plus) or comparable experience.Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to convey complex information clearly and engagingly.3-5 years of experience in managing intranet platforms, digital communications, or internal communications, preferably in a corporate or nonprofit setting.Collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work across departments and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Proven ability to create and manage digital content and platforms, focusing on engagement.Strong experience with Content Management Systems (CMS) and understanding of HTML/CSS; experience with Salesforce and HTML newsletters is highly preferred.Ability to analyze user engagement metrics and translate insights into actionable improvements.Technical proficiency in troubleshooting platform issues and working closely with IT and vendors on system upgrades and improvements.Strong organizational skills, project management abilities, and the ability to adapt to changing prioritiesPreferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in writing for the web and other digital channels
  • Familiarity with the Interact Intranet platform.
  • Experience with Salesforce in Marketing Cloud or Platform App Builder.
  • Familiarity with Photoshop, Dreamweaver, Interact Web Platform or other web design tools.
  • Experience with SEO optimization, Google Analytics, and UX design principles.
  • Understanding of change management or project management is necessary to help drive internal communications projects.
  • Advanced skills in using metrics dashboards and data visualization tools to measure engagement and platform effectiveness.

Remote Work EligibilityThis position is eligible for remote work in the contiguous USCompensation Grade Range and Mid-Point Grade Range:$58,900.00 – $103,500.00/ Grade Mid-Point:$81,200.00The above annual compensation range and mid-point are general guidelines. For candidates who meet the criteria, the AAMC’s compensation philosophy is to target the midpoint of the salary range. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, as well as internal equity, market, and business considerations.If a bachelor’s degree is required, related work experience may be substituted in some positions.
