Lecturers are the primary instructors for courses and an invaluable component of the faculty community.This course introduces analytics students to applied cloud computing concepts and practices ranging from infrastructure and administration to services and applications. The course is primarily focused on the development of practical skills in utilizing cloud services to build distributed and scalable analytics applications.ResponsibilitiesLead class lectures, instructional activities, and classroom discussions. Attend all class sessions.Monitor and address student concerns and inquiries.Evaluate and grade student work and assessments.Conduct office hours.QualificationsColumbia University SPS operates under a scholar-practitioner faculty model, which

as a record of accomplishment as practitioners in an applied industry setting.Requirements

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

Solid knowledge and academic foundation in distributed computing, UNIX operating system fundamentals and shell programmingExperience with the Linux operating system, cloud virtualization and storage systems3+ years of professional experience with at least one of the commercial cloud services (Google Cloud Platform, Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, or IBM Cloud)Knowledge of Python programming languagePreferred Skills & ExperienceUniversity teaching experienceExperience with setting up and configuring Google Cloud Platform servicesKnowledge of distributed computing and orchestration frameworks, such as Apache Spark and KubernetesAdditional InformationPlease submit a resume inclusive of university teaching experience.Columbia University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.Salary: $13,374.97 per semester length course
