Job Description: Position Overview: The Fire Alarm or Sprinkler Designer will be responsible for designing fire alarm and/or sprinkler systems for commercial buildings. This role requires a highly detail-oriented individual with strong technical skills and a thorough understanding of fire protection systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with design software and a solid knowledge of industry codes and standards.Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop detailed fire alarm and sprinkler system designs for commercial projects.
  • Create accurate and code-compliant design drawings and specifications.
  • Perform hydraulic calculations for sprinkler systems.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and constraints.
  • Conduct site visits to gather necessary information for design development.
  • Review and interpret architectural, structural, and mechanical plans.
  • Ensure designs meet all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Prepare material and equipment specifications and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with installation teams to ensure accurate implementation of designs.
  • Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning phases.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of designs and revisions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in fire protection engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fire alarm and sprinkler system design.
  • Proficient in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and hydraulic calculation programs.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA codes and standards, as well as local building codes.
  • Excellent technical and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems and/or Water-Based Systems Layout is a plus.
