POSITION PURPOSE
Under the direct supervision of the CSFP Supervisor, the CSFP Coordinator is responsible for a range of routine to moderately complex administrative and program-related tasks that support the operations of the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank. This role focuses on managing the USDA’s Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) in accordance with California Department of Social Services (CDSS) guidelines and the Food Bank’s internal policies. The CSFP Coordinator works to increase program participation among eligible seniors through targeted outreach initiatives and provides timely customer service and support to both prospective and current participants. Key duties include assisting with the recruitment, evaluation, enrollment, and orientation of new and existing clients.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assess potential Senior Food Program eligibility for applicants; assist with completion of Senior Food Program applications, and accompanying verification of address and date of birth.
- Offer interpretation and assistance to facilitate participant access to Senior Food Program information and services.
- Assist/coordinate the set up and breakdown of the distribution area, ensuring a safe and orderly distribution and clean up.
- Distribute culturally and linguistically appropriate materials particularly targeting Spanish, Tagalog, Chinese, Russian, Vietnamese, and Chaldean/Middle Eastern speaking immigrant communities. Work with contracted interpreters as needed.
- Keep accurate, detailed records and progress reports on information distributed, contacts and services provided as required. Perform on-site daily inventory reports, reconciling box distribution and participant signatures.
- Provide Senior Food Program follow up to all participants assisted and advocate as needed.
- Work closely and maintain positive relationships with distribution site liaisons to assure a seamless experience for each participant applying for Senior Food Program and for the distribution site.
- Arrange and conduct Senior Food Program presentations, enrollments clinics, workshops and trainings to new and current community-based partners at the direction of the Senior Food Program Supervisor.
- Create and establish new partnerships/collaborations that will help expand our countywide efforts to meet or exceed monthly caseload. Help develop and disseminate materials about the Senior Food Program.
- Work with work group members on new Senior Food Program initiatives to increase Senior Food Program participation in San Diego County.
- Help develop health and nutrition components to add to the Senior Food Program.
- Refer participants and non-participants to other food assistance programs such as CalFresh, EFAP and Neighborhood Distribution sites.
- Recruit and train community nonprofit staff, volunteers and interns on the importance of increasing Senior Food Program participation among their communities.
- Participate in other Food Bank activities and program events like Food Bank University, Volunteer Luncheon, etc.
- Provide administrative and distribution site support for all activities.
- Process monthly invoices for CSFP boxes distributed.
- Operate company vehicles, electric pallet jack, and other essential equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
- 2 years of progressively responsible experience in a non-profit organization
- Graduation from high school or G.E.D equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
- Combination of education and experience that otherwise obtains the knowledge, skills and abilities outlines above.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE and ABILITIES KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel and Word).
- Public speaking principles and practices; and/or customer service skills.
- Safety regulations, safe work practices and safety equipment related to the position.
ABILITY TO:
- Learn applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, and program related/contract guidelines within areas of responsibility.
- Interpret and explain program guidelines, policies and procedures.
- Operate a computer using word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications.
- Learn the Primarius inventory tracking system and Oasis Insight participant database.
- Operate other standard office equipment.
- Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Utilize effective reflective listening skills with program participants.
- Exercise tact, objectivity, sensitivity, strategy, and sound judgment with a variety of people in a variety of situations, primarily seniors with special attention to potential deficits in hearing, memory, and cognitive ability.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with distribution host sites, representatives of community organizations and other Food Bank staff.
- Manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions.
- Meet intensive and changing deadlines and interact with officials, staff and the public.
- Understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Valid CA Driver’s license.
- Bilingual Spanish/English/other highly preferred.
- Must have own vehicle and be able to meet travel requirements of position.
- Distributions are held across San Diego County which will require some travel. This also requires ability to be in a variety of environments including outdoor, indoor, and warehouse environments.
- This is a full-time, non-exempt/hourly/benefited position between $25.00-$26.00 per hour depending on experience.

WORK SCHEDULE
- Typical schedule is Tuesday – Saturday 7:30am- 4:30pm
- Due to varying distribution start times and locations, start times could vary between 4:15am and 7:30am.
