OverviewWe are seeking an Environmental Analyst who is a strong technical writer, task manager, and scientist/ecologist for our Liverpool, New York office. This person will support the research, planning, permitting, and development of projects across New York primarily but other states too, with a focus on renewable energy and electric transmission line development. This includes the review of regulatory requirements, policies, development of applications and reports to address regulatory requirements, and the general support of various TRC practices including the Renewables Delivery Team (RDT) and the Planning, Permitting, and Licensing (PPL) teams. The successful applicant will be part of a dynamic team of scientists, engineers, planners, and other technical specialists in New York and beyond. This individual will also have opportunities to support field assignments.
Responsibilities

  • Preparation of permit applications, environmental documentation, State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) documentation, and field data reports.
  • Review of environmental and municipal regulations to identify compliance requirements.
  • Development of applications for renewable power facilities under Section 94-c and/or Article VIII.
  • Development of agency consultation packages and coordination with local and regional agencies.
  • Support public outreach and stakeholder engagement efforts, which may include participation in public meetings and/or open houses.
  • Support wetland delineations and other biological surveys.
  • Support proposal development for new opportunities.
  • Research into policies and regulations at the local, state, and federal levels – including but not limited to public and private organizations.
  • Support the RDT with its initiatives both internally within TRC and externally with our clients.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in renewable energy, environmental science, biology, ecology, botany, forestry, or related field.
  • Experience in environmental consulting related to planning, permitting, or regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with federal and New York State environmental regulations.
  • Experience supporting power generation, including renewable energy, and energy transmission (e.g. transmission lines or pipelines).
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude during year-round field work.
  • Ability to participate in meetings with clients or agencies with minimal supervision.
  • Perform well with minimum supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with GPS and electronic data reporting.
  • Experience leading a team to execute a task or work scope (e.g., preparation of a permit application package or technical data report).
  • Experience managing projects, developing project schedules, and managing project budgets.
  • Mentoring/training of entry level staff.
  • Experience performing environmental monitoring for construction projects.
  • Completion of the SWPPP Inspector 4-hour training course.

Compensation will vary based upon experience, education, skill level, geographical location, and other compensable factors.Other Compensation: Employee may be eligible for participation in the Company’s annual Discretionary Bonus Program which is contingent on Company, Business Segment, and Individual performance against Key Performance Indicators which vary by year and employee.
