Job Description: Position Summary:The Staff Accountant, reporting to the Controller, is responsible for accounts payable entry, general ledger journal entries, month-end close procedures, and analyzing balances in accounts for appropriateness. This position performs account reconciliations and is required to have detailed knowledge of all general ledger accounts and their contents. This position is required to meet all scheduled monthly financial reporting and tax deadlines, and provide accurate and timely analysis and research as needed. Excellent initiative and communication/collaboration skills, and a solid accounting background are important to this position as are intermediate to advanced skills in Excel and Word.Duties & Responsibilities:
- Bank Account Reconciliations and daily cash balancing
- American Express statement reconciliations
- Prepare various reports and analysis on a monthly and ad hoc basis
- Coordinate with numerous operations leaders across the organization
- Accounts Payable entry
- Reviewing and reconciling supplier statements, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Generating and filing of various DMV and fleet returns i.e., highway use tax.
- Maintaining cash register at the Brooklyn office
- Helps in the required annual audits with internal and external auditors.
- Assisting with budget preparation.
- Completion of vendor applications to be signed by management.
- Coordinate the distribution of certificates of insurance.
- Complete customer insurance and indemnity agreements to be signed by management.
- Perform other duties and special projects as needed
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business administration.
- 0 – 1+ years of corporate accounting experience, experience with fixed asset accounting preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of products.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.

Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position in an office environment 70% of the time.
- Will occasionally move about inside the office to access files, office machinery, etc.

- Constantly working in an office environment.
