Job Description: Pilot Property Management is a locally-owned company managing more than 1,100 apartment units in the greater Seattle area. We’re looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join our team. This is a full-time hybrid position, requiring at least three days/week in our Seattle office, with an approximate schedule of Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.The RoleThe Senior Bookkeeper is responsible for the supervision of the Property Bookkeeping team members and full charge property bookkeeping. They will oversee a monthly accounting cycle for a diverse portfolio of properties, including general ledger accounting activities, balance sheet reconciliations, preparation of monthly property financial reporting packages, and collaborating with property managers to ensure accurate, timely, and complete property execution from a financial standpoint. This role requires strong supervisory skills, as well as collaboration with other departments. The ideal candidate will have experience with Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and AppFolio.Responsibilities & Duties

- Collaborate with Property Managers and the Company Controller to ensure that department and company goals are met
- Cash flow management
- Accounts Payable: enter invoices for payment, sort and mail checks, digitize and file payables (electronic and hard copies), and cut checks as needed
- Accounts Receivable: process income for properties (posting into AppFolio, electronic deposits), take deposits to banks, and assist in tenant account reconciliation (outstanding credits/balances)
- Prepare financial statements
- Month end reconciliation and close
- Process owner distributions
- Contact AP vendors for missing/incomplete invoicing
- Obtain W-9s for all vendors and prepare year-end 1099s and other tax and regulatory filings as needed
- Proactively identify and research invoice discrepancies
- Assist team with additional tasks as needed such as filing, processing tenant move outs, and onboarding new properties
- Contribute to process and policy development and maintenance
- Support training and mentorship across the team
- Delegate workload across bookkeeping and administrative personnel as appropriate
- Supervise Property Bookkeeping team and activities
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with team members and clients in a timely manner

Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of three years of relevant experience in property management accounting
- Minimum of two years proven experience as a team supervisor
- Proficient with PCs and Microsoft 365
- Experience working in property management and accounting software required, AppFolio preferred
- Good communicator who enjoys working with a dedicated team
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Strong organizational skills to maintain efficiency standards
- Ability to address discrepancies and implement corrective processes
- Maintain a flexible attitude and approach toward a variety of assignments
- Accept constructive criticism and give appropriate feedback
- Self-starter who can work independently
- Must pass criminal background check
Compensation & Benefits
- $70,000 – $85,000

Additional Information
- Schedule: this is a full-time, exempt position working Monday to Friday, roughly between 8am – 5pm
- Location: this is a hybrid role, requiring at least three full days per week in our Seattle office (in North Queen Anne). During the first 90 days, additional time in the office is expected: four to five days/week, with some scheduling flexibility.
